Hi web explorers,
My best pitch for Hyperclay
is:
Working on a malleable HTML
file, I find myself saying,
"Wait, that's it, I'm already
done?" A relief after not
finishing several hundred
projects over the years.
As Mark Higham told me, "I'm a
developer trapped within
Dante's React/Next.js
inferno." You know the problem
by now: your projects live on
your computer, and the steps
to share them are complicated.
Over the last three emails
I've shown you a different
way.
Now I'm inviting you to try
it.
Hyperclay is Google Docs for
web apps. You create an
editable file in frontend code
and you're done. Friends and
clients can view it, fork it,
or collaborate on it. It can
be a video editor, a
productivity suite, a personal
dashboard, or any other
multimedia experience you can
ship in an HTML file.

Hyperclay has the highest
ratio of elegance to power
I've ever shipped. My rule as
a product builder: your users
shouldn't have to think about
your product. That's why I've
been letting people in for a
year and I continually improve
it based on feedback.
I think malleable HTML files
have a chance to grow beyond
Hyperclay. Everything but the
core platform is open source
(HyperclayJS, Hyperclay
Local), representing thousands
of hours of work. I'd enjoy
seeing other platforms
offering support for hosting
malleable HTML files.
